After a long day, there is hardly anything better than settling down and enjoying a relaxed atmosphere. This clever Palo Santo burner makes smudging your favorite wood wonderfully simple and safe.

The base consists of an oval pedestal made of light Paulownia wood. This type of wood is something very special: it grows back very quickly, making it wonderfully sustainable. In addition, the wood is extremely light, dimensionally stable, and has an astonishingly high flash point—making it naturally more flame-retardant, which is why it is the perfect, safe material for an incense burner. The fine, natural grain and the dark edge also give the pedestal a very elegant look.
Besides the custom-fit recess for the tealight, the fine, engraved pattern immediately catches the eye. This is the so-called witch's knot (often also known as the Celtic protection knot). This mystical, ancient symbol, where an infinite, four-petaled knot merges fluidly with a circle, traditionally stands for protection against negative influences and the connection of the four elements. Energetically, it fits perfectly with the clarifying, cleansing effect of Palo Santo!
Above the tealight rises a simple, curved wire holder on which you can comfortably place your piece of wood. The gentle heat of the flame allows the Palo Santo to smolder slowly and evenly without you having to constantly relight it by hand. In this way, it steadily releases its warm, sweet, woody fragrance throughout the entire room.
I added this beautifully shaped incense burner to my shop because it fits perfectly into cozy evenings. Especially after watering, repotting, and caring for my rare plants, this grounding scent is just the thing to clear my head. General Warnings and Safety Instructions (Fire, Heat & Location):
Never leave unattended: Never leave burning tea lights, open flames, or glowing incense unattended! Always extinguish flames and embers completely before leaving the room or going to sleep.
Fireproof & protected surface: During use, always place burners, bowls, and tea light holders on an absolutely level, stable, heat-resistant, fireproof, and moisture-resistant surface (e.g., stone, ceramic, glass, or metal).
Children and pets: Keep and operate all items (burners, tea light holders, and incense) strictly out of the reach of children and pets. There is an acute risk of burns, fire, and choking. Not a toy!
Safety distance & drafts: Maintain a distance of at least 50 cm from flammable materials (e.g., curtains, decorations, paper, furniture). Do not use in drafts (risk of flying sparks and uncontrolled flame deflection).
Risk of burns (Hot surfaces): Tea light holders, metal inserts/sieves, liquid wax, and glowing incense become extremely hot during operation. Never touch or move during use. Allow to cool completely before cleaning or emptying.
Tea light usage: Only use a single standard tea light in an intact aluminum or fireproof casing in burners and tea light holders (to prevent heat accumulation).
Specific instructions by product type:
For wooden burners: Danger of fire! The body is made of flammable natural wood. It is essential to avoid direct contact of open flames or embers with the wood. Check for cracks or severe charring before each use and do not use if damaged. Clean only when dry.
For salt crystal tea light holders: Salt crystal is hygroscopic (absorbs moisture from the air). In high humidity, the stone may "sweat" and release salt water, which can permanently damage sensitive surfaces (e.g., wood, metal) – therefore, it is mandatory to use a coaster! Wipe dry only, never rinse with water or store in damp rooms (e.g., bathroom) or outdoors. Handle with care due to the risk of breakage and the sharp-edged crystal structure. Not suitable for consumption!
For incense (e.g., Palo Santo, woods, resins, herbs): Not suitable for consumption! Smoke is produced during smoldering: Use only in well-ventilated rooms and do not inhale rising smoke directly (smoke can also trigger sensitive smoke detectors). In case of respiratory diseases (e.g., asthma), allergies, or during pregnancy, seek medical advice beforehand. Dispose of ash and incense residues only when they have cooled down completely (risk of glowing embers!).
