Each piece is carved by hand with great dedication from natural soapstone in Kenya and subsequently lovingly painted. The warm, slightly marbled red background provides a fantastic contrast to the delicate white patterns. This makes every single heart a true one-of-a-kind piece and a wonderful worry stone that you will want to keep with you at all times.
I simply had to include these enchanting little works of art in my shop because they instantly bring a smile to your face. They are the perfect small gift for a loved one, a faithful lucky charm, or simply a colorful, affectionate accent for your home. And as always: they look especially great when used as a small gesture of love, decorated on the soil in the pot of your favorite plant!
The soapstone products come from Tabaka/Kenya, a town with approx. 10,000 inhabitants located approx. 25km from Kisii. Soapstone (steatite) is a soft natural stone. The color of the stones varies between white, gray, yellow, and reddish tones, sometimes traversed by beautiful veining. The raw material is mined locally in quarries. The carvers are independent artists who specialize in one product area each. Tools used include chisels, knives, scrapers, and sandpaper. The fine-tuning, washing of the stone, waxing, and polishing is then usually carried out by women from the family. The 100% handmade nature results in differences in shape and color.
