Scented tobacco/forest tobacco (Nicotiana sylvestris)

Fragrant tobacco, also called forest or mountain tobacco (Nicotiana sylvestris)

in a 7-piece pot.

A beautiful perennial from Argentina with fragrant, white flowers.

It usually grows up to 1.5m tall. Mine was around 2m last year.

Can be overwintered in a cool, bright location. Young plants, in particular, easily survive the winter in pots at around 5-10°C. Ideally, they should be kept in bright light. However, they can also tolerate relatively low light. Surprisingly, they continue to grow relatively colorless throughout the winter. This quickly evens out with the first light of spring.

Otherwise, it will self-seed, or you can harvest the seeds to start plants indoors the following year. It prefers slightly calcareous soil.

The plant truly lives up to its name. Especially on warm summer days, it releases its fragrance relatively far and attracts numerous moths.
