These little hearts made of solid soapstone are lovingly crafted worry stones and cheerful companions for everyday life. Each heart is carefully handcrafted and then decorated with intricate, colourful patterns, ranging from delicate spirals and wavy lines to dots and small abstract ornaments. The vibrant colours in bold red, sunny yellow, warm green and deep earth tones make each piece a real eye-catcher.
Scope of delivery: One heart each
The carefully selected pieces in the Natural Products and Wellbeing range are made using traditional handicraft techniques in Tabaka, Kenya. They combine vibrant craftsmanship with the grounding appeal of a genuine natural material. Because each heart is entirely unique and hand-painted, no two are alike – every piece is a one-of-a-kind original.
Whether as a personal gift, a soothing good-luck charm in your pocket or a decorative splash of colour among your houseplants, these little hearts instantly bring joy to any room.
The soapstone products come from Tabaka, Kenya, a town with around 10,000 inhabitants, about 25 km from Kisii. Soapstone (steatite) is a soft natural stone. Its colour ranges from white, grey and yellow to reddish tones, sometimes with beautiful veining. The raw material is extracted locally in quarries. The carvers are independent artists, each specialising in a particular product category. Their tools include impact chisels, knives, scrapers and sandpaper. The final sanding, washing, waxing and polishing are generally carried out by women in the family. The fact that each item is 100% handmade accounts for variations in shape and colour.
