A beautiful symbol of togetherness, joy, and shared experience. This smoothly polished soapstone sculpture features abstract figures holding firmly onto each other's arms, turning around one another in a fluid motion – almost like a happy, carefree carousel. Through this intimate posture, the interlocking arms form a protective arch over the curved base.

In the center of this spirited dance is a perfectly fitted hollow for a tealight. When lit, the harmonious scene is bathed in a wonderfully warm light. As the soapstone in this holder is left completely natural, the incredible variety of the material is showcased: the smooth surface captivates with dreamlike, soft marbling in delicate shades of pink, cream, and earthy browns. Each piece is hand-carved in Kenya from a single block and is an absolute, unmistakable one-of-a-kind item simply due to the unique grain of the stone.

Craftsmanship that tells such a lively and simultaneously harmonious story simply fascinates me—one more reason to include this little gem in my small collection for you. It is a fantastic, meaningful gift to show your connection to friends or family in a special way. And when the gentle candlelight flickers in the evening and casts soft shadows on the leaves of your favorite exotic houseplants, this holder provides just the relaxed atmosphere one needs after an active day!

The soapstone products come from Tabaka, Kenya, a town with about 10,000 inhabitants located approximately 25km from Kisii. Soapstone (steatite) is a soft natural stone. The color of the stones varies between white, gray, yellow, and reddish tones, sometimes streaked with beautiful marbling. The raw material is mined locally in quarries. The carvers are independent artists, each specializing in a specific product category. Tools used include chisels, knives, scrapers, and sandpaper. The fine finishing, washing of the stone, waxing, and polishing are then mostly carried out by women from the families. The 100% manual work means there are variations in shape and color.
