Sometimes it only takes a few words to bring great joy to someone special. This special piece simply had to be in my collection!
The smoothly polished, bulbous soapstone heart carries a clear, loving message: On a bright red banner across the middle, the phrase "It's nice to have you" is written in curved, white lettering. This heartfelt greeting is framed by fine white decorative lines that contrast beautifully against the dark, mottled, almost black-looking background of the stone.
Each of these little hearts is crafted in Kenya with a lot of love and skill from natural soapstone and then carefully painted and inscribed by hand. This makes every single piece a distinctive worry stone and a true one-of-a-kind item that you’ll love to carry with you in your pocket.
A true piece for the heart that I definitely didn't want to keep from you. It is the perfect little gift to simply say "thank you" from the heart – whether for a dear friend, a great family member, or a helpful neighbor. And as a small decorative tip: if you place this heart as a loving greeting decoratively on the soil of a freshly gifted, rare houseplant, your gift will become just a little bit more personal and radiate a wonderful warmth!
The soapstone products come from Tabaka, Kenya, a town of approximately 10,000 residents located about 25 km from Kisii. Soapstone (steatite) is a soft natural stone. The color of the stones varies between white, gray, yellow, and reddish tones, sometimes streaked with beautiful veining. The raw material is mined locally in quarries. The carvers are independent artists who specialize in specific product areas. Tools used include chisels, knives, scrapers, and sandpaper. The finishing, washing of the stone, waxing, and polishing is usually carried out by women from the family. Because it is 100% handmade, there are differences in shape and color.
