The smoothly polished, rounded soapstone heart bears a clear, loving message: on a wide, bright red ribbon, the encouraging phrase "You are wonderful" is written in white lettering. This heartfelt greeting is framed by delicate, white wavy lines that stand out beautifully against the dark, mottled background of the stone.
Each of these hearts is crafted in Kenya with great devotion from natural soapstone and then carefully hand-painted and inscribed. This makes every single piece an absolutely unique item that you will love to carry with you in your pocket.
A true piece of heart that I absolutely wanted to share with you. It is the perfect little gift to simply conjure a smile onto the face of a favorite person and show them how much they mean to you. And a little tip from me: if you place this heart as a loving message decoratively on the soil of a freshly gifted houseplant or rare botanical find, your gift becomes even more personal and radiates a very special, heartfelt warmth!
The soapstone products originate from Tabaka, Kenya, a town of about 10,000 residents located approximately 25km from Kisii. Soapstone (steatite) is a soft natural stone. The color of the stones varies between white, gray, yellow, and reddish tones, sometimes streaked with beautiful veins. The raw material is extracted locally in quarries. The carvers are independent artists who specialize in specific product categories. Tools used include chisels, knives, scrapers, and sandpaper. The fine finishing, washing of the stone, waxing, and polishing are usually carried out by women in the family. The 100% manual labor results in variations in shape and color.
